64GB Memory Included

With Nova's pre-installed 64GB TF card, record over three hours of AVI video. Select either 1080p @ 30fps or 720p @ 60fps on the Settings menu. Increase the recording time by using your own TF card, up to a maximum of 256GB.

Over Eight Hours of Runtime

Powered by two high-capacity 3500mAh 18650 batteries, Nova is designed for extended evening surveys. For even longer operating time, the LCD display can be turned off using the dedicated screen on/off button.

When will pre-orders ship?

Nightfox Nova is currently available for pre-order. Shipping is estimated for late March. Customers will receive a confirmation email with tracking details once their order dispatches.

Will I be charged immediately for a pre-order?

Yes. Payment is taken at the time of order to reserve your unit. If your plans change before dispatch, please contact us and we’ll be happy to refund your order.

Is Nightfox Nova suitable for bat surveys?

Yes. Nova is well suited to bat surveys thanks to its 60FPS sensor, display and wide 55°–70° field of view. The smooth frame rate helps track fast, erratic bat flight, while the wide viewing angle makes it easier to monitor tree lines and open sky during emergence surveys.

What is the viewing distance of Nightfox Nova at night?

The Nightfox Nova has a night-time viewing distance of up to 140 metres (460 ft). This makes it suitable for typical wildlife observation and bat survey distances without relying on excessive digital zoom.

Why does Nova use 1x optical magnification?

Nova is designed for immersive, wide-field observation. The 1x optical base helps preserve situational awareness and makes it easier to track moving wildlife across the sky or treeline.

How long does the battery last?

Battery life is up to 8 hours with mixed infrared (IR) use and up to 16 hours without IR enabled. Actual runtime depends on IR intensity and recording settings.

Does Nightfox Nova use replaceable batteries?

Yes. Nova is powered by two removable 3500mAh 18650 lithium-ion batteries (7000mAh total capacity). Because the batteries are replaceable, users can carry spare charged cells for extended fieldwork.

Can Nightfox Nova record video?

Yes. Nova records video in 1920*1080p at 30FPS or 1280*720p at 60FPS. Files are saved in .AVI format to the included 64GB memory card.

Does Nova record audio?

Yes. Nova has built-in microphone for audio recording and also features a microphone jack for external audio input. When a microphone jack is plugged in, the Nova will automatically use audio from the jack rather than the built-in microphone.

Can I connect Nova to an external screen?

Yes. Nova features 720p HDMI output, allowing connection to a monitor or external display for shared viewing. The Nova is compatible with the NEEWER F100 field monitor.

Does Nova take photos?

No, the Nova is designed specifically for video recording and live observation. It does not have a photo capture mode.

Is Nova tripod mountable?

Yes. Nova includes a standard tripod thread, ideal for static survey work or extended observation sessions.
